Analysis of Preliminary Task

My preliminary task required filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with which he then exchanges a couple lines of dialogue. We decided to host our task in Q6 of which I opened a door and then carried on walking. James doing the filming of the task then showed practise of the 180 degree rule, followed with a long shot of me walking towards a table of which Laurence was seated.

As I sit down the camera zooms into a close up shot of the book I was holding. The camera then has a mid shot of the table, me and Laurence where we say the part of the conversation. The camera then is placed behind me showing the back of my head and Laurence speaking to me. We could have improved this show by the framing; however the match on action and transition is showed well here.

The 180 degree shot is then done to demonstrate the use of shot reverse shot, this I done well and the editing includes good transition, we could have improved on the filming and possibly spoken louder. The Mise-en-ScĂ©ne is good as there are no unnecessary items in the camera's view. To improve for our final task we could include better camera shots and angles, we didn’t have any variety of high or low angle camera shots. Which if we put in our final exercise could improve the final marks.
